Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield
Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) is focused on making a positive impact on the environment and our communities through its Better Places initiative. The corporation saw a great opportunity to donate surplus food from its restaurant tenants to food recovery organizations, and partnering with Careit to implement the program was a perfect match.
URW was impressed with Careit’s user-friendly platform which made it easier from keeping records to setting up agreements with food recovery organizations. In addition, Careit’s proactive approach also really stood from visiting all URW centers, meeting with their teams and tenants and ensuring everything started smoothly.
“As we look to the future, we are excited to extend our partnership with Careit for the next three years as donating surplus food is a key part of our plan to cut down on waste and support our efforts to reduce our carbon emissions,” Tom Tierney, URW’s Executive Vice President of Center Operations & Marketing, said. “Their expertise and proactive approach have been so helpful, and we are confident that together, we will continue to make a difference on both the environment and our local communities.”
BJ’s Restaurants and Brewhouse
BJ’s Restaurants and Brewhouse is committed to reducing food waste and supporting the communities it serves. As a large restaurant operator, they have surplus food that, while still safe and high quality, would otherwise go to waste. BJ’s saw an opportunity to turn this surplus into a positive impact by donating it to local organizations that serve those in need.
“Careit stood out as the right partner because their platform makes it easy to coordinate donations, track impact, and ensure that food reaches the right hands quickly and efficiently,” Dan Goldberg, BJ’s Vice President Quality Assurance and Safety, said. “Their technology allows us to streamline the donation process which aligns perfectly with our operational goals and social responsibility commitments.”
Donating surplus food is an important part of BJ’s core values. Reducing food waste directly supports the company’s sustainability goals, helps address food insecurity in the communities where we operate and strengthens the company’s connection with local organizations.
