LOS ANGELES, CA (April 23, 2025) – Careit, a national free food donation and rescue app that connects businesses to nonprofits to combat hunger, will showcase its green tech products and live food waste prevention demonstrations at The 2025 National Restaurant Association Show. Since its national launch in 2023, Careit has rescued more than 130 million pounds of food in the U.S., which provided 108 million meals worth $260 million to help feed those in need.
Fighting hunger with Careit’s eco-friendly, innovative app
According to ReFed’s 2025 Food Waste Report, restaurants and foodservice businesses generated 12.7 million tons of surplus food in 2023, more than 85% of which went to landfill or was incinerated as waste. Less than 1% of this surplus food was donated.
These statistics highlight the need for restaurant businesses to prioritize and implement sustainable and safe food donation practices. From January 2024 to current date, Careit has helped close the gap in the fight against food waste by rescuing more than 618,000 pounds of food sourced from nearly 10,000 restaurant, food service and hospitality partner donations.
Why stop by Careit’s booth
At the Show, Careit booth visitors can expect to experience and participate in:
- Food donation games for restauranteurs to test their knowledge on how they can keep their surplus food out of landfills and donate it to nonprofits to help feed those in need
- Live app demonstrations for booth visitors to post their restaurant ad-hoc donations (doesn’t have to be scheduled in advance)
- Corporate dashboard demo showcase for tracking whole-chain food waste reduction and donations programs
Careit has opened doors for many restaurants across North America to match surplus meals and ingredients donations to local nonprofits for free. At this year’s Show, we are eager to find more restaurant partners excited to prevent the wasting of perfectly edible food, and hope all who visit our booth learn that donating food is easy, safe and beneficial to their community. – Alyson Schill, Careit CEO and Co-founder
Show attendees are encouraged to schedule meetings with Careit staff to learn how they can join well-known restaurants and food businesses who have worked with Careit to combat food waste and donate their surplus food to nonprofits across the nation including: Red Robin, Chili’s, BJ’s Restaurants, Compass Foods, Sizzler Restaurants, Eurest, Panera, Restaurant Associates, Levy Restaurants, Auntie Anne’s, Bruegger’s Bagels, Sprinkles, Longhorn Steakhouse, Chuck E Cheese, Cinnabon, Sodexo and Popeye’s.
How to Shareit with Careit
Careit uses smart algorithms and Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to empower local nonprofits and communities with equal access to the surplus of resources donated by restaurants, caterers, food distributors, corporations, grocery stores and more. The Careit app is free and can be downloaded on all iOS and Android devices.

App users can optionally pay subscription fees to access advanced features such as multi-location data reporting to enable food tracking donation efforts for new food waste policy compliance, environmental social good campaign efforts and tax-deductible charitable contribution tracking. Businesses can save time and staff costs of record-keeping for food donations with Careit’s innovative platform for data and impact tracking.
