If you are located within Southern California Edison (SCE) and/or Southern California Gas (SoCalGas) service territories, you may be eligible to benefit from the SoCalREN Food Desert Energy Efficiency Equity (FDEEE) Program. This program is providing no-cost energy upgrades to small businesses, food pantries, and food recovery nonprofit organizations in these hard-to-reach areas, including efficient refrigeration, lighting, and water heating systems. This includes businesses located on tribal lands or owned by members of tribal nations.
Their goal is to help small businesses, such as corner stores, bodegas, or small grocery stores, as well as food recovery organizations, expand people’s access to wholesome and healthy food while saving on utilities costs. This program is currently focusing on remote locations, particularly those that belong in low-income areas.
Applying is completely free to participants, as the program strives to help reduce costs while improving food access for families and individuals who need it most.
